Zebra cake




a beautiful, easy cake, that takes just like a good tea-time cake should. this is a variation of the regular vanilla/chocolate cake with the addition of orange zest to the vanilla batter. I love the combination of  orange and chocolate, it works very well here.

Ingredients

1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups AP flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup whole milk
zest of 2 large oranges


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the oil with the sugar for 4-5 mins and then add the eggs one by one and best for another 3-4 mins then add the vanilla. Slowly add the flour, salt and baking powder, followed by the milk. Take half the batter into another bowl and add the orange zest to it. To the oither half add the cocoa powder and mix well.
In your prepared pan, add a 1/4 cup of the orange flavored batter in the center of the pan, followed by the chocolate batter in the center of the orange flavored batter. Alternate between the two till all is used up and bake for 35-45 mins.
